NFL Power Rankings Top 15 Week 11

New England Patriots v Indianapolis Colts

Although they have failed to dominate and have had luck on their side over the past few weeks, the Saints and Colts remain undefeated. The Saints struggled against an awful Rams team, but squeaked out a win. The Colts were outplayed by the visiting Patriots, but quickly seized opportunity when Bill Belichick pulled a Barry Switzer gamble by going for a first down on 4th and 2 at their own 28. The referees probably got the spot wrong again, but the Colts quickly scored the winning touchdown to rally from 17 points down in the last quarter.

The Vikings continue to look like a clear Super Bowl contender. The have augmented their previously strong defense with a potent offense and dynamic special teams performer in Percy Harvin. As long as Brett Favre stays healthy, they will be a threat to win it all. The Vikings could very well have the best talent in the NFL as they have filled voids with Favre playing like he is 30 and Sydney Rice emerging as a star receiver.

With their second win this season against the defending Super Bowl Champion Steelers, the Bengals have made a loud statement that they are a legitimate contender that is not going to fade away. Their defense is playing superbly and continues to keep opponents off the board. With Carson Palmer returning to form after injury, along with Cedric Benson playing like the high draft choice he once was, Cincinnati should win 11 or 12 games.

It was not a good week to be 6-2 as all four teams lost. Below the top four, the next eleven teams are now just a game apart. All have the potential to get hot, but have also shown inconsistency over the course of the season. The Broncos have come crashing back to earth, similar to the Giants, and now find themselves trying to regain their confidence. The Eagles are banged up and will need to have inexperienced players step up if they hope to make the playoffs.

  1. Saints (9-0)-Might have taken Rams too lightly, but prevailed in end
  2. Colts (9-0)- Manning refuses to look a gift horse in the mouth
  3. Vikings (8-1)-Favre, Rice, Peterson rack up the yards
  4. Bengals (7-2)- Sweep vs Steelers shows they are the real deal
  5. Patriots (6-3)-Belichick rolls dice and loses game to Colts
  6. Steelers (6-3)-Drop second to Bengals, fall behind in AFC North
  7. Chargers (6-3)- Moved ball with ease against Eagles
  8. Cardinals (6-3)-Rally in 4th Qtr to overcome Seahawks
  9. Broncos (6-3)-Luster quickly fading with 3rd straight loss
  10. Cowboys(6-3)-Dominated by Packers, still many questions
  11. Eagles (5-4)-Chargers too much for depleted team
  12. Falcons (5-4)-Ryan and defense struggling, Turner hurt
  13. Giants (5-4)-A week off to think about 4 game losing streak
  14. Texans (5-4)- Monday night victory will be big for playoff hopes
  15. Ravens (5-4)-Didn't learn much against minor league Browns team

NFL Power Rankings-Top 15....Week 6

New York Giants v New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints made a strong statement to the rest of the NFC with their crushing victory over the New York Giants, who many believed to be the team to beat. The Colts look to continue where they left off after having a bye week to heal. The Vikings remain undefeated, but have been fortunate to win 2 of the last 3 games. A last second touchdown heave and a missed field goal have them feeling like a team of destiny. The Denver Broncos continue to exceed expectations by running their record to 6-0, making Josh McDaniels look like a genius.

The Patriots love to kick teams when they are down, especially in the snow. A 59-0 drubbing of the Titans has people convinced Tom Brady is officially back from knee surgery. A fortuitous schedule has the Steelers keeping pace, but they will be severely tested by the Vikings this week. Matt Ryan, Michael Turner and company might not win division, but will be strong playoff contenders. The Pack may be back, and must avoid looking past the Browns to their home rematch against Favre.

  1. Saints (5-0)-Emphatic win over Giants makes statement to NFC
  2. Colts (5-0)-Healed over bye week, look to crush Rams
  3. Vikings (6-0)-Runaway win turns into a nail biter as Ravens FG misses
  4. Broncos (6-0)- What is their magic number in the AFC West?
  5. Giants (5-1)-Saints prove to me a far cry from previous opponents
  6. Patriots (4-2)-Snow in NE perfect for running up the score
  7. Falcons (4-1)- Well rounded offense, good defense = playoff contender
  8. Bengals (4-2)- Set back by surprising loss to Texans at home
  9. Steelers (4-2)-Beating weak teams, need to step up against Vikings
  10. Eagles (3-2)-Guilty of taking Raiders too lightly
  11. Ravens (3-3)-Battled back against Vikings and lose a heartbreaker
  12. Packers (3-2)-Offense clicking, one Favre prayer from 4-1
  13. 49ers (3-2)- Tough game in Houston with confidence down
  14. Bears (3-2)-Nothing to be ashamed of loss in Atlanta
  15. Cowboys(3-2)-Want to prove themselves with win vs good Falcons team

NFL Power Rankings- Top 15 Week 1

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

The Pittsburgh Steelers squeaked out an OT win at home, but they were playing a tough Titans team and are still the defending champions. As a result, they find themselves at the top of our rankings after week 1. The Patriots did not look like the 2007 powerhouse that most expected with the return of Tom Brady....until the last couple minutes. As usual, they are potentially scary, especially for gamblers and fantasy footballers due to their passion for running up scores. The Eagles made a strong statement in week 1, but skeptics have a hard time drawing the line between their defensive dominance and the Panthers offensive ineptitude. The Vikings have the ingredients if they do not have to rely on their other scorned QBs. Lastly, the Giants Eli Manning's performance in last year's playoffs makes me wonder if he is hanging out with Mets players?

Without further adieu, here are our rankings after NFL season week 1:

  1. Steelers (1-0)-Still the defending champs, will miss Polamalu
  2. Patriots (1-0)-Brady's back, one year removed from 16-0 season
  3. Eagles (1-0)-Strong start, but McNabb injury could cost week 2
  4. Vikings (1-0)-Have ingredients if Favre stays healthy
  5. Giants (1-0)-Strong defensive line and running game, but will lose at Dallas
  6. Chargers (1-0)-Strong cast should win division if healthy
  7. Cowboys (1-0)-Long TD throws are aberration, but still solid
  8. Titans (0-1)-No shame in losing at Pittsburgh in OT
  9. Jets (1-0)-Ryan defense, running game enough for Sanchez to win
  10. Ravens (1-0)-Flacco taking next step
  11. Saints (1-0)-Best QB in NFL will allow them to win shootouts
  12. Falcons (1-0)-Led by rising star Ryan, but won't sneak up on anybody in '09
  13. Packers (1-0)-Playoff possible with improving Rogers and defense
  14. Cardinals (0-1)-History of complacency for defending NFC champs?
  15. Bills (0-1)-Looked good until the nightmare ending
